Youtube is full of awesome things right now, guys. Normally, the only videos floating around are of ridiculous "live" recordings, which are actually more like music videos--a bunch lip-synching and pretend guitar-playing. Yes, if you search "The Moody Blues" at Youtube, you'll still run into a few of those (which are still great to watch...Justin, you beautiful, beautiful man), but amongst the load of crap, you'll find some Actual live songs such as "Never Comes the Day", "Tuesday Afternoon", and "Gypsy"! Hurry! Go, Now!

screen caps [25 Mar 2006|01:32pm]

Are any of you able to get screen caps from Legend of a Band? I would love to get some shots of Justin near the end of the live performance of "I'm Just a Singer" to make an icon. If you can, please let me know. Thanks!

Hey everyone. Glad to find a Moody Blues community.
I'm 17 years old, and thanks to my father, I've grown up on The Moody Blues. My dad still has all of their albums, and he's also bought some of them on cd. Once I leave home, I guess I'll have to buy my own haha. Anyway, I remember watching Legend of a Band on VHS tape every single day and telling my father that I'd marry Justin. I saw them perform in concert two times in the early nineties, and I attended a sold out show in South Bend, Indiana last Wednesday. It was so incredible! I'm hoping to get ahold of tickets to the New York date (spring).

intro post [08 Dec 2005|06:20pm]

Hey everyone, I just joined and felt I'd introduce myself. I am 15 years old and I got into The Moody Blues about a year ago when I started listening to a lot of classic rock and my dad had me listen to Question Of Balance. I immediatley fell in love with them and have been listening to them a lot ever since. I was kinda disappointed to see that there weren't many Moody Blues communities, but I don't really see many people listening to them now. I don't know anyone my age who listens to them besides one of my friends that I got into them. Sad, eh? A lot of people are really missing out.

It's a Blue World [15 Nov 2005|07:47am]

Greetings fellow fans,

I joined this community a week or two ago, but I noticed that there are few posts, so I figured I'd add one to the count and introduce myself. I am a latter-day Moodies fan. I discovered the Moodies with Your Wildest Dreams back when it came out but I was too young to pursue the band at the time. Some years later, somebody introduced me to I Know You're Out There Somewhere and I picked up the Legend of a Band compilation and fell in love with every song on it. I floundered for a few years, not having lots of extra money for buying CDs and acquired a few as gifts. I completely ran Legend of a Band into the ground such that I could not play most of it any more and had to buy a new copy. This brings us to the present day, with me at age 30 owning all but five of the studio albums (I will acquire them eventually) and having seen Justin, John, and Graham in concert over this past summer for the first time.

I love this band. I wish I could have been around to see them in their heyday. I find a lot of older fans seem to think the band's skills deteriorated with age. Me, I just think they evolved. I can listen to Days of Future Passed as easily as I can listen to Strange Times (which I personally think was a BRILLIANT album, though I seem to be alone in my opinion). I don't care what they say, I will always love this band.

My favorite songwriter in the band is Justin Hayward and unfortunately, the fact of my loving his songs has soured my love life. Strange but true. You see, I keep looking for someone who has both maturity AND the ability to look at life like Justin apparently does. So many people just don't understand the concept of maintaining a child-like outlook and simply loving life. This is the way I am, the way I have always been, and likely always will be. Someday I hope to find someone who understands, preferably someone just a tad bit younger than Justin. :) Because, "you see, I refuse to believe that someone's not waiting for me."

Ok, so I haven't exactly spoken on the matter, but here goes. I don't know how to do the fancy links like my sister does so I'll just give you a link to her link. Mom's Letter.

I will basically sum it up for you. My mother lives approximately 5-6 hours north of New Orleans. There like here in Dallas they are getting flooded with refugees from the Hurricane. So many that they do not know where they will put them all. Dallas, Houston, Monroe, Shreveport, Beaumont and so many more cities are afflicted with the same problem. These people in New Orleans and parts of Mississippi and all along the Gulf Coast have lost literally everything.

Those that managed to evacuate in time have absolutely nothing left to go back to. Some have literally escaped with just the clothes on their backs. The shelters are asking... no begging for supplies. Clothes, toiletries, and most importantly food are desperately needed. The company that I work for alone has lost track of many of their employees and have some 300 or so that have lost everything. That is just employees in the company that I work for alone. My company has pooled its resources and as they always do are taking care of their people by asking for donations of clothes, baby supplies, food, and medical supplies from the employees within the company.

I am taking much of the clothes, toys, and other baby necessities that Justyn has outgrown to our drop off point on Monday. My theory is that by the time Barbara and I have another child these will be too outdated to use and for now they are just taking up space in our storage shed. I also intend to go through my closets and take some of my own clothes and anything else I think might be needed. I can only hope that if something were to happen here in Dallas, that others would open their hearts and do the same.

I urge everyone that reads this to donate to the local Red Cross, Salvation Army or any other organization that is helping in this relief effort. I have little money to give, but I have plenty of supplies and necessities. I would suspect that anyone else aside from the homeless probably have the same.

Just a couple more thoughts. Temperatures in August in Louisiana and Texas often exceed 100 degrees, with heat indexes that exceed 110 degrees. In temperatures like that the biggest enemy is dehydration. There is water everywhere in New Orleans, but not a drop of it is drinkable. Simple bottles of drinking water would help people in ways that you will never imagine.

One more thing that I'm sure everyone in the world has... In times of disaster the Red Cross runs horribly short on blood. This is not something that should ever happen. There is absolutely no reason for a blood shortage. There are so many healthy adults out there with blood to give, if you are one of them I would urge you to find a blood drive in your area and donate!

The one thing that I retain from my days working for the Red Cross as a volunteer fire man and as a volunteer search and rescue person is that speed is essential in any emergency. Do not wait until next week to do any of this. These things are needed now! The faster these things are sent to the Gulf the more lives will be saved or helped.

That's it for now. I hope that I have at least influenced one other person out there to help make a difference. God bless you all. It is times like these that make us realize how lucky we are to have each other, and that we live in a country and a world were help is not just on the way it is there!

Hi everyone, I just joined :) My name's Eliza, I'm 16 years old and I live in Cranston, RI. I am a HUGE Moodies fan, my mom loves them and I've been hopelessly addicted since I was 3. My favorite song would either be No More Lies or Gypsy of a Strange and Distant Time.

I saw them in concert November 23, 2003 and it was the best night of my life. They still rock hard after all these years. I can't wait to see them again on their next tour!

I have all of their albums, Justin's abums, and John's albums, and a few tour t-shirts, plus Night At Red Rocks, Legend Of A Band, and Hall Of Fame.

I hope to meet some new friends here!

Well ttyl!

I will make this short and sweet:

I have a signed guitar by Justin, John, Ray, and Graeme.
I got this for a birthday present last year.
I at one time had it hanging on my wall because -- hey, it was a signed Moodies guitar.
Now, there is a slight possibility that this guitar is not what it seems to be since the person who gave it to me

A.) refused to give me a certificate of authenication
B.) said it was supposed to come with that certificate, but it didn't (ordered off of EBay).

and if anyone knows a way to authenicate the guys' signatures on the guitar, that'd be fantastic.

OH MY GOD! [16 May 2004|11:09am]

[ mood | bloody amazed! ]

I was just at my local drug store, and I heard on their music system an instrumental version of The Way of the World!! (It was like they'd just deleted Justin's vocals and inserted a guitar or some other instrument to carry the melody; the opening chords and backdrop harmonies were the same)

Wow! I didn't know it was that well known to warrant my local drug store's attention.
